Helga Isager, when researching the designs of  Åse Lund Jensen, found drawings of the long Chain Waistcoat.  These drawings have inspired the cable pattern on the jacket.

The jacket is worked from the bottom up in one piece to the armholes. Fronts and back are then worked separately. The sleeves are set in.

The Jacket is knitted in a strand of Isager Mohair and a strand of Isager Tvinni held together throughout.

The colour shown in the example is Isager Tvinni Colour no 3s and Isager Silk Mohair Colour no 3s.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Jacket is knitted from the bottom up in one peiece until you reach the arm holes then work each section on their own.  We recommend the following yarn substitutes if you want a slightly less rustic feel.  You could use Isager Jensen and a strand of Isager Soft Fine.  We also think that Isager Jensen and a strand of Alpaca 1 could be an option too.    The Jacket has a high collar which can lay flat or be buttoned up around the neck.

GAUGE

The pattern uses a variety of stitches.  The main cable panel pattern who will use 4mm needles which will give you 26 stitches over a 10cm square.  The rib for the bottom edge and sleeve cuffs, you will use a 3.5mm needle for a gauge of 26 stitches over a 10cm square.

TOOLS ETC

4mm and 3.5mm needles in various lengths.  You will also need a cable needle and stitch markers.  8 buttons.
